Chabad of Kingsborough in Brooklyn held a grand Chof Daled Teves Farbrengen this past Sunday evening, celebrating 200 years since the histalkus of the Alter Rebbe. The event was held at the Young Israel of Brighton Beach, with over 50 people in attendance, mostly of the greater Brighton Beach area who have been hit by Hurricane Sandy.
Rabbi Efraim Zaltzman, Director of Chabad of Kinsborough, inspired the crowd with the light of chassidus, expounding on the moshol of Chassidus being the crown jewel of the king. He encouraged the people to join his Tanya JLI course.
The highlight of the Farbrengen was the shliach’s father, Rabbi Hillel Zaltzman, who farbrenged with the crowd, a mix of Russian and American Jews about his experiences in the Former Soviet Union, and the Mesiras Nefesh they had to endure in order to keep Yiddishkeit in the dark years of the 50s and 60s.
The atmosphere was very warm and uplifting. The people were very touched and inspired, which even resulted in a group that formed who decided to go visit the ohel that very night after the Farbrengen!
