A group of Shluchos have joined to help their fellow community leaders to attend the annual Kinus convention in New York who otherwise would not be able to attend due to lack of funds.
The initiative, started last year as an email campaign, has grown this year into a full fledged effort to assist shluchos from overseas who cannot afford the airfare to join their fellow shluchos at the annual Kinus Convention.
“The kinus was really important to the Rebbe – so important that the fee for the actual kinus was not allowed to be more than just a symbolic amount, with the Rebbe covering the rest of it,” one Shlucha told COLlive. “Shluchos who come in for the Kinus gain their inspiration for the year – enabling them to return to their communities and serve them with strength, joy and all that it takes to be a shlucha – especially in some of these far flung places!”
Last year 15 Shluchos were helped with funds for tickets, she says, and they didn’t merely attend the conference – many of them served on panels and spoke for the shluchos or for local organizations.
“We can do that again with the help of COLlive readers,” she says. “You can put a smile on a Shlucha’s face. Any amount is helpful as every dollar adds up!”
The group has received requests for tickets that cost $1,000 – $2,000 each. To make any size donation specifically for this cause please go to ChabadHouseStamford.org and click on donate. Please write “kinus” in the notes. If paypal is easier for you, use this address: [email protected], and if you mark it as a personal gift there are no charges.
If you or someone you know was not planning on attending due to lack of funds please send an email to [email protected] with their info. We will do our best to accommodate as many shluchos as possible on a first come first serve basis.
My mother had given up hope of being able to go to the kinus but baruch hashem due to this she could!!
This is the most incredible thing and I can’t express my appreciation. Yasher koach and may the organisers of this receive much brochos for their effort!
what date is the kinus hashluchos??????
I’m a shliach, and a woman I visited today in hospital told me that her son which is a father of four, called her and said he had 70 cents left in his pocket. It broke her heart obviously and mine too. It’s difficult times and unfortunately many can’t afford a $1.80 donation, but for those who can, certainly the above cause is very worthy of your charity.
We will be happy to collect unused miles to help bring in shluchos as well. If you have 25,000 miles or more that you can donate for a shlucha please email [email protected], and or [email protected]
thank you.
good jobb
Perhaps it would be good to set up a system where people can donate miles or vouchers for shluchos…there are many people with unused miles and vouchers. Personally I would find it easier to donate miles that I got for free then money but the value of miles is ultimately higher…
many shluchim don’t come due to lack of funds as well. this year some shluchim raised some $ to bring a few shluchim in for the same reason.
i wonder how many shluchos don’t come every year due to funds whose husbands come every year despite funds…just saying 😉
Please please please help make this happen. 99% of the people reading this can give $18. EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS! We need more funds to be able to help the requests coming in. And the requests are not from people who come every year but just want their tickets paid – it’s shluchos who don’t get to come – ever! or who are going through really tough times and need a pick me up they can only get by joining their sisters from around the world. They live in far out places – alone – day in day out. Let’s give… Read more »
To those who arranged this amazing thing! We don’t realize how much these Shluchos gain by coming to the kinnus. For a few dollars, we can make a whole community gain new inspiration for the coming year.
kol hakovod! the rebbe would be proud!! definately give for such a cause..
What A GREAT IDEA. A YID HELPING ANOTHER YID IS THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL.
A SHLUCHA WHO LIVES ALL ALONE.WITH NO PARENTS OR SIBLINGS TO HELP OUT,DESPERATELY NEEDS THE KINNUS TO RECHARGE.
IT IS VERY VERY LONELY TO BE THE ONLY FRUM PERSON AND CONSTANTLY JUST GIVE.
EVERYONE NEEDS TO CONNECT TO THEIR SOURCE AND THE REBBE FORESAW IT.
I HOPE YOU RAISE LOTS OF MONEY
