Flight Cancelled? Let’s Dance

Hundreds of people attended a gala event last week in London, England, to benefit the Chabad-run Dignity organization whose slogan is “giving the poor the respect they deserve.”

The fundraiser was held at the Hilton hotel and included an inspirational talk by the high-profile British Rabbi Yitzchok Schochet of the Mill Hill Synagogue and a performance by Jewish music superstar Avrohom Fried.

As the crowd was roaring and the concert was coming to an end, Fried got the news that all New York area airports were shut down due to the superstorm and that his flight had been cancelled.

Remaining upbeat, Fried told the crowd “now we can dance until the morning” and asked the the Yosef Berami Orchestra from France and the men’s choir from Belgium to continue accompanying him.

The event was produced by Michael Caplin Productions of Israel.

Fried told COLlive.com on Sunday that he is safely back with his family in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood which was mostly spared the destruction the befell the city.
