Residents across the entire Tri-State Area and beyond are readying for the big-time effects from Hurricane Sandy.
All across the region, supermarkets, convenience stores and home fix-it stores have been selling out of some products.
Lines were long at Crown Heights grocery stores such as Empire Kosher and Kol Tuv, packed with residents stocking up on canned goods, bottled water, milk, bread and other essentials.
With the wind picking up in the New York area by Sunday morning, downed trees could be seen in a few places, and there are reports of internet outages in some parts of Crown Heights.
With the super storm expected to make landfall on Monday, officials in the city are taking no risks, shuttering schools and urging people to seek alternative accommodation away from lower Manhattan and threatened parts of Brooklyn and Queens.
“If you don’t evacuate, you are not only endangering your life, you are also endangering the lives of the first responders who are going in to rescue you,” Mayor Michael Bloomberg said at a news conference Sunday. “This is a serious and dangerous storm,” he reiterated amid talk from some residents that city officials were over-reacting.
Most Crown Heights schools will be closed Monday as well.

http://www.wnd.com/2012/10/could-frankenstorm-be-a-sign-from-god/ “America’s eastern seaboard is in a state of emergency, stocking up on food and battening down the hatches as it anticipates a ferocious weather event some insurance companies would refer to as “an act of God.” But could the “Frankenstorm” – the feared combined forces of a wintery land storm with Hurricane Sandy – actually be a message from the Almighty? Journalist and White House correspondent William Koenig explained to WND that some of the United States’ most catastrophic storms and events have correlated closely with the nation’s God-defying attempts to divide the land of Israel. “When we put… Read more »

“NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg crowed quite contentedly in an interview with The Atlantic about pushing back against those who opposed his measure to regulate metzitzah b’peh. “I think it’s fair to say that nobody else would take that on. I mean, come on! Forget about the fact that—“They do what!?”—Who wants to have 10,000 guys in black hats outside your office screaming?” the Mayor was quoted as saying.” Hey Mayor Bloomberg, as 10,000 guys in black hats outside your office screaming didn’t get your attention, it looks like you have something coming your way, to NY, that will make you… Read more »
