“Yiddishe Mame” Dining Room

Lubavitch Educational Center is growing by leaps and bounds, and the packed girls Dining room can attest to that.

Now, the girls can enjoy eating in their newly renovated, colorful and beautiful dining room, thanks to Dr. Ira S. Barton who dedicated it in loving memory of his mother, Mrs. Sandra Barton.

Recently the school hosted Dr. Barton for a dedication ceremony and a luncheon in the new Dining room.

Arriving at LEC, Dr. Barton was met by three boys classes who sang a song of greeting, “Heivenu Shalom Aleichem”. Dr. Barton addressed the boys, speaking to them of the importance of Kibbud Av Vaeim. The ceremony was then moved to the 4th floor Dining room where the dedication took place and a delicious catered lunch was served.

Rabbi Benji Korf addressed all in attendance on the impact a “Yiddishe Mama” has on her family, and how her teachings and values mold her children’s futures. He also thanked Mr. Yossi Duchman, a good friend of Dr. Barton, for all his Chesed he does on behalf of the school and the community, and for his assistance in this project.

Dr. Barton spoke to the children and then a picture of his “Yiddishe Mama”, Mrs. Sandra Barton was unveiled as an everlasting tribute on the dedication wall. In honor of this special occasion, all the girls’ classes received cake and ice cream.

All the attendees marveled at the “one of a kind” dining room that was just renovated, and painted with colorful, tasteful and kid-friendly artistry, based on the concept of Ahavas Yisroel.

The artwork was drawn by Mrs. Sara Teitelbaum, Ms. Shayna Bortunk and Mrs. Bracha Lipkind, all who are dedicated and talented staff at Lubavitch Educational Center. Mrs Reena Goldberger helped in the design. This dining room was truly a labor of love and is sure to be enjoyed for years to come.
