Yeshivas Lubavitch of Baltimore celebrated their Seventh Anniversary Gala Banquet on Thursday May 31, 2012.
The honorees for the event were Jonathan Melnick and Mordechai and Esther Hackerman. Mr. Melnick received the Yeshiva Humanitarian Award for his many philanthropic initiatives in the Baltimore community in general, and especially his friendship and support of the Yeshiva. Jonathan Melnick is the founder of Melnick and Newell Auctioneers one of the premier auctioneers companies in Maryland.
Mr. Mordechai Hackerman was honored with the first Rabbi Mendel Feldman Ob”m Torah Education Award, for his support of Torah education in the city of Baltimore. Mr. Hackerman is an Executive Manager of the nationally acclaimed Whiting-Turner constuction company and the son of the Chairman of the company Mr. Willard Hackerman.
Among the attendees were former mayors of Baltimore, Kurt Schmokes and Tommy De’Alesandro, the current Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, as well as many other well known dignitaries and philanthropists in the Baltimore area.
In addition to the honorees the dinner gathering was addressed by the volunteer executive director Ephraim Rosenbloom, and Rabbi Shmuel Kaplan the senior Shliach of Maryland under who’s auspices the Yeshiva Lubavitch was founded.
The Yeshiva staff, under the leadership of Rabbi Levi Najar also attended the event.
