Second Donor Offers $10K
After reading the news on COLlive, a woman is offering $10,000 for a Chabad mikvah that's nearing completion. By COLlive reporter
Another donor is stepping up to the plate to help a Chabad Mikvah overcome the last financial hurdle before completion.
A woman whose identity is being kept secret has turned to the Taharas Hamishpacha Organization / Mikvah.org and offered a donation of $10,000 for a new Mikvah building project.
According to the organization's director Mrs. Chaya Sarah Zarchi, the woman was inspired after reading on COLlive.com about another anonymous donor that gave $10,000 to Chabad of Sweden's Mikvah.
"It comes in the spirit of "mitzvah goreres mitzvah" - one donor inspired another - and it's your article that caused this ripple effect," Mrs. Zarchi told COLlive Publisher Mica Soffer.
As with the first donation, the decision on where the monies will go is solely up to the donor, who said her first choice is a Mikvah in Israel.
Shluchim and community leaders in Israel are welcome to send a detailed report about their Mikvah that is being built and what will it take to complete it.
Taharas Hamishpacha Organization, a division of Machne Israel, will then pass along the information to the donor. Personnel at the organization will not be consulted or involved in the choosing.
"It is the donor who is the driving force and support behind this and who deserves tremendous Yasher Koach," says Mrs. Zarchi.
"The fact that her choice is to remain anonymous is testimony to the fact that she has one and only motive: Get a Mikvah up and running as fast as possible. May she be blessed with all that is good."
Applications can be sent to shluchos@mikvah.org.
