Most people heard what Rabbi Sacks said. Few heard the recant. The real question is why on earth would someone make a statement that oes viral and then recant.

Rabbi sacks retracted his statment

Rabbi Sacks clearly retracted his statement and explained it. Why would you write and post an article about a retracted statement?

PS Rabbi Sacks said the same thing about himself using an iphone every day.

I think you missed the point. Shochet doesn’t disagree with Sacks just his attack on Jobs. It seems Sacks has since recanted on his view. http://www.thejc.com/news/uk-news/58670/chief-rabbi-i-did-not-attack-steve-jobs-or-apple

Not the same...

Definitly has its advantages… but for the people who don’t have a choice, but everyone knows to learn chitas and daven from your phone is NOT the same as using a sefer, did you ever get a phone call or text while using your phone for Shmoineh Esrei?!

use it for good

Shows that some enjoy to be argumentive
November 23, 2011 5:57 pm

Two Jews, three opinions. Some like to argue even when there is nothing to argue about. The Rebbe said over a “story” that after 120, each Rosh Yeshiva gets to say a chiddush before Kaviyochal. One R”Y was not a great mechadesh, but he was great at shlogging op. After 120 when invited to say a chiddush he responded, Let the Kaviyochel say a chiddush and I will shlog it op. The Cheif Rabbi said a nice “chiddush” – no need to shlog it op!

Two sides to a coin

An iPod/Pad isn’t exactly the best thing either, if you get my drift.

Shows the Difference of a Chassid

This is the difference between on who learned from the Rebbe how everything created can be used to serve Hashem. A Lubavitcher finds it natural to look at things the way that Rabbi Shochet just did in this article

I learn daf yomi every day with my iphone. I also have my siddur, chitas and other sforim. Can’t leave home without it.
