Mrs. Leah Rubaskin, wife of imprisoned Kosher meat plant director Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin, spoke to the students of Bais Rebbe Junior High in Los Angeles this week.
In her speech, Mrs. Rubashkin described the challenges that her family is dealing with, as well as their unwavering faith in Hashem during this difficult time.
Mrs. Malka Seewald, Judiac Principal of the school, said that meeting Mrs. Rubaskin left a deep impression on the girls. “The students were absolutely amazed at how strong and positive the Rubaskins are despite the current situation,” she said. “The girls later added on extra hachlatos – good resolutions in honor of Sholom Mordechai.”
Leah Rubashkin said that in Postville Iowa, a big part of Sholom Mordechai’s job was to make peace between the workers. She jokingly continued that since he did such a good job with it, Hashem wanted him to be the source of peace between all the Jews worldwide. When else in our history have Jews from all walks of life joined together like this? Mrs. Rubaskin described how Satmar set up lines of computers in order to enable all those who don’t have internet at home sign a recent petition asking President Obama to investigate unfair legal practices in the Rubashkin case.
She continued by saying how hashgacha protis – Divine providence was seen throughout the entire trial, fom the date of the trial, to what was allowed in the courtroom, to the prison where Sholom Mordechai is currently held.
Following the incredible speech, the girls were given the chance to ask questions. One girl exclaimed how she feels so bad for Sholom Mordechai.
Leah replied: “Don’t feel bad for him- it is like he is in kollel and davening and learning all day.
Another girl questioned about when she feels he will be released. With great confidence, Mrs. Rubaskin said that it will happen in the blink of an eye.
Mrs. Rubaskin concluded with heartfelt gratitude to the girls for the tefillos and hachlotos which they took upon themselves in her husband’s honor.
May we see his personal geula immediately.
