New Booklet Reaches In

In a new booklet, Crown Heights Rosh Kollel Rabbi Yosef Heller lays out 3 primary rules to keeping children on the right path.

In honor of Pesach, the organization Merkaz Anash in Crown Heights published their second booklet in a series of inspirational booklets - this time entitled "Reaching In."

The 19 page booklet concerns itself with one of the most challenging topics in our times - "Dealing with Our Challenged Youth."

It includes a collection of stories and insights from the publication Lma'an Yishme'u (also by Merkaz Anash, directed by R' Shimon Hellinger) on the preciousness of every single Yid and the zechus and obligation upon each one of us to inspire those in need, with an overview of the Rebbe's approach.

In the article, "Children Leaving Yiddishkeit: Can Anything Be Done?" Crown Heights Rosh Kollel Rabbi Yosef Heller lays out three primary rules to keeping children on the right path.

"To help ensure that a child will remain within the community, it is important that: 1. His experiences with Yiddishkeit be pleasant and enjoyable 2. He or she is taught Yiddishkeit in the correct manner and 3. he sees truth in what he is taught."

Another article is a transcript from a farbrengen by Rabbi Chaim Sholom Deitch, Rosh Kollel Tzemach Tzedek in Yerushalayim, who is known for his warmth and care - and he preaches just that - reaching out with positive energy to all those around us.

"Most importantly, the love must be unconditional. A child must feel that he is not loved because he did well, or even because he is trying to do well. He must feel that his connection with his parents is regardless of who he is - just because he is their child."

In a letter from the Rebbe Rashab, he emphasizes the tremendous importance of parents serving as role models for their children, and specifies learning by the father as a necessary factor for a child to be strong in Yiddishkeit.

The publishers thanked R' Eli Simon for managing the project, Miriam Szokovski for writing and editing, Penina Baumgarten for cover design, R' Mendy Browd for design and layout and Rabbi Michoel Seligson for his advice.

The booklet was distributed to all homes in Crown Heights and many other Anash communities worldwide. Download here. Copies are also available by contacting: info@lmaanyishmeu.com
