The 12 foot Menorah that stands tall and proud in front of the Aliya Institute of Crown Heights was lit by New York State Senator Jesse Hamilton last night.
Aliya members gathered together for their annual Chanukah party at their home-away-from-home for a very special evening.
Before menorah lighting everyone enjoyed a delicious milchig buffet that was very generously sponsored by Aliya alumnus Berry Horowitz from “Buncho Bagels” and hot delicious baked ziti made by Mrs Sara Feiglin.
Aliya is fortunate to have many fans in the Crown Heights food industry that often sponsor Shabbos meals, food for shiurim and farbrengens including Mrs Malka, Mendys restaurant, Pomodori Pizza and Meyer Cohen.
While the young men enjoyed the delicious buffet our young talented members took turns at the mic to sing, rap or play an instrument. Benzion Mizrachi and Boruch Liampe performed some of their original songs and really got the crowd excited as did Yehoshua Engelson together with Sruli Hahn and Pinny Goodman.
Everyone then went outside to watch Senator Jesse Hamilton light the Menorah, then came back inside to hear some inspiring words by Rabbi Feiglin and the most electrifying performance from Yellow Red Sky.
It was definitely a Chanuah to remember and a special thank you to Bunch Bagels, Jesse Hamilton, Shmuli Kopfstein for sponsoring Chanukah Gelt for Aliya members, Shevach Tamir, Ruvi Litzman, Menachem Malka and Moishe Katzen for their amazing performances.
