So Is It Anti-Semitism?

Op-Ed: Everyone who brings up the case has the same question - was Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin targeted because he is a Jew? Was the disproportionate sentence he received tied to his religion? Full Story

Good judge bad judge? is that what the legal system here depends on? And that is the roll of the dice? So the American justice system is a gamble and the courthouses like casinos?
Perhaps a new America would be like a new home?

If you are a member of the legal proffession, I hope you represent all those hardened criminals who might get off really easy.
It may prove to be quite a challenge for you having to tell them to look for a new home.

We as a people have often been told to look for a new home, and not that long ago.

to # 2 indeed there is something we can do to make sure never again not to say it but to actualize it. “the praises of g-d in his mouth and a double-edged sword in his hand”

Oops, almost forgot, if you are a citizen you are also subject to the laws of the United States Justice System and once you break them it is a roll of the dice, somtimes you get a good judge somtimes a bad one, and an excuse that others have gotten off with far lesser while may be true is a childish mentality and statement. With that said yes, I do believe the sentencing for SBR is harsh, unfortunately that is the way the point system works. I am sure SBR will utilize the American process by appealing his sentence and… Read more »

Your comments would do well if they were directed to those who come the great United States of America, and want to change its image by intoducing their culture as the mainstream way of life. Does any group come to mind, Mr #15? If an injustice has been committed, then every decent human being ( not just the Jews) should stand up and protest with utmost vehemence. Do you deny that the sentencing of SBR was far too harsh considering that others who have committed far more henious crimes, have gotten off with much, much less? You, sir, get off… Read more »

If you were born in this great country “America” or you immigrated here and became a citizen then you are entitled to all right’s, priviledge’s and protection of the United States of America, if you persits on acting as outsiders you will be treated as outsiders, if you don’t like the United States of America you have the privilege of leaving at any time, I am sure you will find a more welcoming country….right? In the meantime this whining of victimization is really old and giving rightful cause for non Jews to begin to question our sanity. Let’s get a… Read more »

Kudos to Pinny Lifshutz
July 9, 2010 3:47 pm

I am so impressed with Pinchos Lifshutz, he has taken on a case on behalf of SMR because he was searching the truth. In the interim, he has put everything on the line. This man has shown ME what Ahavas Yisroel is. Heretofore, he was a complete stranger to SMR, yet he adopted his cause with a devotion and a love that even surpasses the love of brothers. In appreciation I buy his newspaper the Yated. I encourage every Lubavitcher to do likewise. This man has reignited my belief in achdus yisroel, and the moshiach. May Hashem bentch him and… Read more »

If someone would make the argument that the American justice system needs to be revamped, and that the sentancibg guidelines for white color crime need to be rewritten, I would have no problem with that.

But that is very different from saying that SMR has been singled out for prosecution as a Jew due to anti semitism.

How sweetly niave you are. You are living in a bubble in your own perfect world. The american justice system has so many stains (as you so put it) that not the most advanced chemicals could remove them.

He was forsure racially sentenced, just yesterday a man was given a max sentence of 2 years for a racial murder!

This person who brought SMR to the court was an anti semite and he thought that the way his factory was shecting wasnt nice 2 the animals which is absurd because Jews kill the animals in the least painfull way and I think that it is partly because of his dumb brain and because also of Anti-semitizm. #8 speak fro urslef.

It is absolutely not anti semitism.

People need to research this case for themselves before forming an opinion.

I love SMR, have personally benifited from his kindness and generosity, and am appalled at the length of his sentance.

But I find the claims of this being anti semitism, a stain on the American justice system, a travesty etc extremley disturbing.

I think we need to remind ourselves of a story called the boy who cried wolf…

A pattern

Countries (states) that hate Jews: Iraq, Iran . . . Iowa. See a pattern?

Yidden! Read these words; understand what they mean; agree to act on them immediately; and forward this article to everyone you know. There is no interest in our collective survival other than our own vocal, visible and endless insistence that Am Yisroel Chai! Rabbi Lipschutz: The history of the Jewish people will soon begin to mark your work as a turning point in the mindset of Diaspora Jewry. Anything that has happened in the past can easily happen again. BOTTOM LINE
July 9, 2010 5:38 am

Let us not only be beachdus when these kind of things happen. Let us show Hashem that we can be beachdus all the time, and that includes with people with whom we don’t see eye to eye. Perhaps we can make this the last tzoroh of this kind, and impact a complete turn around for S.M.R.

What a lovely history we have

So rich with persecution, man it’s good to be the chosen one, I am so proud to be a Jew.

We lift up our eyes in prayer and we pray, “Hashem, please. Never Again.”

Yasher Koach!
Well written and unfortunately very true!
However, there has to be more that we can do – in addition to looking up to heaven – to make sure “it” never happens again!?

very powerful!
