This past Sunday, June 6th, Chof Dalad Sivun, two Torah scrolls were dedicated to the Lake Success Chabad, directed by Rabbi Dovid and Chumy Ezagui.
The ceremony in the Nassau County village of New York began at Leanords of Great Neck, where more than 500 community members attended to celebrate this meaningful occasion.
Of the two Torah’s one was new, being completed at the siyum, and the other Torah was a rededication of a Torah which is over 500 years old.
Attendees completed the final letters of the new holy scroll at Leanords before partaking in a lavish Seudas Mitzvah, and then parading the new Torah down a stretch of the two main community streets of Northern Boulevard and Lakeville Rd., that had been blocked off for the occasion.
Throughout the parade route, passersby saw a spirited procession of celebrants dancing with the two Torahs, to the chords of live music.
The celebration culminated at the Lake Success Chabad located on Lakeville Rd., where more dancing and a reception capped off the festivities. The two Torahs were then placed in the shul’s new Aron Hakodesh which was dedicated for this special occasion.
