Over five hundred people participated in a Sefer Torah dedication celebration Sunday, welcoming a new Comm-Unity Sefer Torah which was started in Israel, and concluded at the Town of Oyster Bay Chabad in Long Island.
Letters were written in the Sefer Torah by many Rabbis, Rosh Yeshivas, and community leaders in Israel before its arrival in the United States. At the Long Island event, family, friends and Chabad members were also able to help the expert scribe complete the final letters of the Sefer Torah.
Beautiful certificates were presented to all those that participated.
The Torah was donated to the Town of Oyster Bay Chabad by Moshe and Sara Lipszyc of Toronto, in honor of his parents, Rabbi and Mrs. Menachem and Miriam Lipszyc.
Moshe Lipszyc established the successful Bais Chaya Mushka Girls School in Toronto 15 years ago, (the fist Chabad Girls School in Toronto), and following on the heels of this great accomplishment, has now launched the already popular Camp Leah Rivka, the first Chabad girls overnight camp in Toronto, catering exclusively to Anash.
The air was electric, as the procession following the Torah marched together, holding torches and flags, with much emotion, jubilation and joy. A special Sefer Torah dedication float carried the Torah, with live simcha music adding to the festivity. The parade was escorted with a large fleet of police cars, and Four-Star General Dakron at the lead.
Major roads were blocked off as well, and many bystanders joined the festivities, dancing, clapping or even taking pictures/videos, causing a tremendous Kiddush Hashem for all that witnessed the event.
“I’ve never been so excited in my life,” said Darryl Aaronson, who laminated the beautiful mementos given to all participants, featuring a piece of the mantel that covered the Torah before its completion.
All were treated to a beautiful hot lunch, as a Seudas Mitzvah, after hearing inspiring messages from Town of Oyster Bay Chabad director Rabbi Shmuel Lipszyc and the host, Moshe Lipszyc, followed by live music and much spirited dancing.
This beautiful travelling Torah Scroll, which is now at the Town of Oyster Bay Chabad, will be a traveling Sefer Torah to Israel, fostering great unity and support for our brothers in Israel.

Oyster Bay is both a township and one of the actual towns within the township on Long Island. The Town of Oyster Bay Chabad Shul is in Woodbury within that township, and that is where all these grand festivities took place. It was an event not to be missed!!!! I doubt this town has ever seen anything like it before!!!
