Esther Hoichberg, a mother and Shlucha who educated many Russian-speaking Jewish girls, passed away Tuesday in Israel.
She was 44 and suffered from a lengthy illness.
Born in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, while still under the Soviet rule, her parents Reb Menachem Mendel and Leah Cohen gave her an authentic Jewish education combined with self-sacrifice and kindness.
In the early 5730’s, the family emigrated to Israel and settled in the Kiryat Malachi neighborhood of Nachalas Har Chabad. She learned in the local Chabad school and later in the Bais Rivkah seminary in Kfar Chabad.
She returned to the Former Soviet Union with her husband Moshe Hoichberg and children as a Shlucha in Moscow. In recent years she was part of the faculty of Ohr Chaya Institute in Jerusalem.
She is survived by her parents, sister Tzivia Nemirovsky, husband and children Rochi, Yossi, Sari, Rodi and Blumi.
