Chassidus Group Opens Office

The Ohr Hachasidus Institute, whose mission is to spread Chassidus to the Orthodox community and Yeshivos, inaugurated their new offices in Crown Heights on Sunday, Lag B’Omer.

Well-known rabbis and mashpiim attended the Chanukas Habayis – including Rabbi Yoel Kahan, Rabbi Sholom Charitonow, Rabbi Avraham Gerlitzky and Rabbi Yehuda Leib Altein.

The event honored Rabbi Zushe Wilhelm, Menahel Ruchni of Oholei Torah Mesivta, and his family, who had donated the new facilities, in memory of R’ Refoel Moshe Sperlin OBM and his father, Rabbi Avraham Dovid Wilhelm OBM.

“The work of the institute is vital, especially in these times of great darkness,” said Rabbi Yoel Kahan, the chief ‘chozer’ reviewer of the Rebbe’s talks.

“In recent times, more and more we see the great thirst for learning Chassidus amongst various circles – all that is missing is someone to teach it to them in ways they understand,” said Rabbi Altein, who heads the Heichal Menachem Institute in Boro Park.

“As the institute increased our activities, our offices lacked sufficient space, so we had to expand our facilities,” said the organization’s director, Rabbi Avraham Mann. “The new location has 10 offices, all near each other, which will make it easier to function and increase our capabilities.”

The Institute, established more than seven years ago by then-yeshiva students who are still part of the staff, has gradually expanded its activities to other projects such as books on days with special significance on the Chasidic calendar, Tanya lessons, and disseminating the Rebbe’s talks in clear and easy writing in the US and Israel.

The Institute’s main goal is to spread the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe to the general public.
