BROOKLYN – The Census Bureau is apologizing for sending census forms to Brooklyn residents the day before Passover.
Rabbi Eli Cohen says a low return rate from Crown Heights could be due to many Jewish residents getting the forms as they were preparing for the holiday.
The Census Bureau says those who may have been missed in the census will be counted when workers go door to door May 1.
Members of the Jewish community say they’ll do their part to help make sure Jews are counted by helping the bureau hire Hebrew, Yiddish and Russian-speaking workers.
