MAY HASHEM CONTINUE TO HELP AND MAY WE ALL SEE SIMCHAOS BIMHEIRA BIYAMENU! AMEN!!

May 1, 2010 4:03 pm

There should be a 24-hr vigil outside either the courtroom or the judges’ house, with bachurim by the hundreds taking time off from yeshiva to learn and pray (peacefully) in these public places. Can this be organized?

thanks to hashem

I agree, it would be great if the article linked in #46 could be sent to the judge.
But i dont think it is necessary to add “y’mach shema” after her name.
The judge has done nothing wrong to need Hashem to obliterate her name.
It is the unfair gzeira of a life sentence which needs to be destoyed.
So on the contrary – we NEED the judge, as she has been chosen by Hashem to iyh be the one to take the gzeira and destroy it.

We are coming up to the holiday of Shavuous. I think to myself, HaShem works in strange ways. We are all aware of this. So, what’s to say He’s not doing the same thing to Rubashkin and Madoff and any other Jews suffering in Golus (all of us), just like in the days “when we left Mitzriyim” (spelling?). We had to prepare ourselves for the receiving of the Torah. Most of us know the story of what the Jews went through, maybe some of us don’t. The bottom line is, HaShem is working on us all and just like the… Read more »

You couldn’t have said it better. Now everyone has a chance to reach the goals and do extra. We all have a tendency to push things off till there’s real pressure on us: People didn’t feel the urgency of the trial until it started, people didn’t realize the magnitude of the sentencing till a few weeks before, when reality set in and we all became frantic. In the last couple of days, I think all of us have been doing something extra and we should not let that die down, we should keep it up, with the same momentum and… Read more »

בת דינא בטל דינא -- Shlomie Neubort
April 29, 2010 3:43 am

Perhaps an apropos saying in addition to כל עכבה לטובה is בת דינא, בטל דינא — “when judgment is delayed, it loses its effectiveness” (see Sanhedrin 95:1). This saying is also quoted by the Rebbe for the proposition that harsh judgments lose effectiveness with delay. May the judgment in this case lose its effectiveness entirely and then be transformed for the good!

Good news, bad news
April 28, 2010 11:47 pm

The good news is we have another 4 weeks to work behind the scenes (if possible.) The bad news is he has to be tortured another 4 weeks? Only a man of tremendous strength of character can withstand such terrible conditions. I bet Bernie Madoff has a pillow & blanket in his cell.

I’m not one to scream conspiracy, but the disproportionate rulings & conditions for a frum Jew versus the rest are horrific. This is America??? Where is the anti-Arizona rabble now, shrieking about Nazis? They’re not in Arizona. They’re in the “judicial” system in Iowa.

Dear Leah Rubashkin,

We are all with you all the way, davening, hoping for gute besuros and thinking of you and all your precious kinderlach. May Hashem return your husband to you bekorov mamash, mamash, and may all the pain be erased. The example of goodness that you and your husband represent has inspired thousands of yidden worldwide. Be strong…. We love you!

Good news soon
April 28, 2010 7:23 pm

Tachlis: in 3 or 4 weeks, we can put on Tfillin with thousands more people, say thousands and million more kapitlach of Tehillim, do many more Mitzvos, and I as a shlucha will make a Hachlata in Public that I will try, IY”H, to bring 5 new ladies in my community to do her special Mitzvah, and we will all have the Zechus to see with our eyes what all our Mitzvos and good deeds accomplish.

April 28, 2010 7:11 pm

I read in a letter from the Rebbe that even though there is not a known source for “kol akava l’tovah”, since it has been accepted and said by Yidden for many generations we accept is as valid. I once had a court case with many delays and in the end the verdict handed down was in my favor. This was regarding an inyan that “bderech ha teva” I had very little chance of winning. The Rebbe gave brachos in Igros Kodesh almost every step of the way. As soon as I read that the judge was delaying sentencing, I… Read more »

re 37. The Rebbe clearly states that he is aware of its use, an e.g. would be the Chida. The question still is, what is the source of the phrase/concept that all delays are good? To this the Rebbe says that he has not found a makor for it in seforim. Perhaps the following will clarify: We all know the pisgom “Tracht gut vey zain gut” (Thinking good makes things good). What is the makor of this idea? In the first sicha of vol 36 the Rebbe explains it at length. If you follow the foot notes you’ll see that… Read more »

Your explenation is flawed as it does not respect the federal rules of evidence. Charactor evedence is permited when raised by the defence. Also, this is a sentancing trial, aggravating and mitigating evedence is very important and ones charactor is just the type of evedence the court is looking for!

RE "Kol Akava l'tova"
April 28, 2010 5:54 pm

I don’t claim to be a major mayvin on this, but here’s from the Rebbe’s letter (Igros, 10 Tammuz 5712):
נ”ב: מזכיר במכ’ פתגם,
כל עכבה לטובה, זה מכבר מחפש אני מקור פתגם זה בספרות ישראל, ועדיין לא מצאתי.

However, the Chida in his diary in “Maagal Tov” uses this phrase several times (others preceding him as well) – it must’ve been used more in Sfardishe circles..

what you can do
April 28, 2010 5:31 pm

below is a letter with a idea of a zchus for sholom mordechai I was zoche to learn in the mesifta of Postville all 3 years of yeshivah and can clearly attest to the many acts of chesed that sholom mordechai carried out on a day to day basis. Weather it was monetary aid or a sympathetic ear to what seemed to us as major issues, he always wanted to help. I would like to mention one of the many: It happened one motzoei shaboss early in the year at the melaveh malkah which sholom mordechai had with the bochurim,… Read more »

April 28, 2010 4:22 pm

I don’t see the good here at all. wasn’t this sentence supposed to happen last December? Let me remind you that an appeal cn only take place after the verdict is out so the later it is given out the later he can appeal, secondly a prison after sentencing is much more pleasant than where he is now, I think they were hoping to see the light now and not in four weeks. I think Hashem is enjoying our achdus and wants more of it.

I don’t think that anyone can read in to it based on what was really going on in that court room. Instead of guessing and making statements about it just wait and see
there is no indications in any direction why the judge asked for more time to decide in this case so why jump to conclusions and make statements that may make you eat your hat at the end
Let’s pray for good and think positive but how about stop talking

The key is her comment to make a written decision, this is not at all positive, when a judge does not want to be confronted with the reaction from an adverse decision they postpone the result and say you will get a written decision

why?

so he can sit in jail for longer? oy hashem!
lets try 2 get him out on bail again!

sent out of court room during testimony?
April 28, 2010 1:31 pm

technically she can send out the jury during any testimony so she can hear it first and then deem it relevant or not … if it is about good character etc she may deem it extraneous/not pertaining directly to the case and choose for the jurors to not hear it. she can also choose to bring them back in and have the testimony repeated if she wishes.
