As efforts continue to help Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin, one of the institutions he founded has announced its expansion this coming summer.
The Postville Mesivta, a Yeshiva in the Iowa town that serves teenage students from around the country, is opening a Yeshivas Kayitz.
The summer learning program will begin Sunday, Tammuz 8, 5770, through Av 24, for bochurim finishing Shiur Bais and Gimmel Mesivta and finishing Shiur Alef Zal.
It will be headed by some of the Mesivta staff, including Rabbi Eliyahu Benshimon, Rabbi Gavriel Levin and a few older bochurim.
“We have a serious learning program: Aliba dehilchesa, cholov yisroel and cholov acu”m and Maseches Beitza with the Ros”h and Alter Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch hilchos Yom Tov,” COLlive was told.
The day will begin with a full hour of Chassidus learning in the morning (a similar hour in the evening) and time will be dedicated for sports and activities.
The trips will have a relaxed tone to it, as expected from a program in ‘middle America.’
They will visit local farms, fish hatcheries and attend a carpenter’s workshop where they will be building a model of the Bais Hamikdash out of wood.
“Defying all the hardships, the Mesivta and the community in Postville are staying strong,” one of the organizers noted.
Registration is still open for the Yeshivas Kayitz and the Mesivta
year of 5771. For more information, visit mesivtapostville.org
