No break from Torah: Oholei Torah’s Raitport Beis Medrash Zal in Crown Heights will remain open in the coming school year, COLlive.com was told Wednesday.
Although renovations on the Talmudical Seminary’s dormitory building at 645 Eastern Parkway were announced at their recent dinner, actual work will not begin in the year of 5771, a member of the administration said.
“The Yeshiva Zal will open as usual this fall with full dormitory accommodations,” he said.
The plans are to gut the 24-unit apartment building, leaving just the outside walls and excavate the basement. The renovation is being donated by hedge fund manager and philanthropist David Slager.
Manhattan architect firm Simon Fouladian is currently drawing up the plans and will oversee the construction, to “begin in the near future, but not in the coming school year,” according to the source.
