Mr. George Rohr, the principal patron of Chabad-on-Campus and Sinai Scholars, met with students at the 2nd Annual Sinai Scholars Symposium, hosted at Dartmouth’s Nelson A. Rockefeller Center.
He encouraged them to maximize their individual potential, according to a report on lubavitch.com.
“Don’t suffice with baking bread when you are capable of polishing diamonds,” he told them, citing Hayom Yom, a book of daily thoughts from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson.
Asked what motivated him to donate so generously to Chabad, Mr. Rohr responded humbly.
“I’m not a philanthropist,” he said.
“I’m an investor and I know of no more valuable a cause in which to invest. It simply gives me the best return on my money.”
rbca tottally rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the epitome of a person maximizing his poetential and the gifts he was given. When HAshem sees one using these gifts, He wants to give them more to do good with. May Hashem truly bless Mr. Rohr and continue to bestow upon him bounty and plenty in a time when so many are lacking.
from a recipient of Mr. Rohr’s generosity
May Hashem continue to bless Mr. Rohr and his family with all good things and with the ability to continue to invest bountifully in the best merchandise in the world, the Torah, as packaged by the Rebbe.
Thank you.
I’m in shock! For everything Mr. Rohr does he answers, “It simply gives me the best return on my money.” Wow! This is truly out of the ordinary.. Lema’ala min hateva!
