You may have heard about the Chabad E-Myth initiative that Shluchim worldwide have begun together with Michoel E. Gerber, founder of E-Myth Worldwide and bestselling author on business development.
We’ve come a long way since our first meeting in Southern California with the original group of Chabad E-myth Shluchim.
What Chabad E-Myth aims to do is to teach Shluchim how to manage the business side of a Chabad House – to delegate as much as one possibly can, to volunteers and employees, so that the Shliach can do the work that he was called to do.
Could anyone possibly consider his Chabad House a success when he has been there for years and years and has only reached 10% of the Jews in his community? If there is something that needs to be done, there is a system that can do it. There is a right way, tried, tested, and constantly improved upon. This is the E-Myth way.
Rabbi Zalman Marcus, Director of Chabad of Mission Viejo, CA observes, “We believe that there is a right way and a wrong way about every aspect of our Yiddishkeit.
“But somehow, when it comes to organizing the Chabad house, “however” and “whatever” works for you is acceptable. I quickly saw how untrue that was – that when you do organize the right way you get the results you are looking for and when you don’t you are playing Russian roulette.”
Shluchim are already experiencing transformations within their Chabad houses. Rabbi Shmuel Fuss, Director of Chabad of Riverside, CA shares his personal success, “This Chanukah we had 55 volunteers which allowed me to focus on a better drasha and to connect with people at the event.
Normally, I would be spending hours preparing for the event by myself and would be running around schlepping tables and worrying about food prep during the event, etc, etc. Additionally, the volunteers themselves brought in several thousands of dollars to cover the event by creating booths that would bring in the funds. It was a true Chanukah Miracle!
“In fact, the volunteers enjoyed the experience of being empowered so much that they are already planning for a bigger event next Chanukah. This was made possible because of my training at E-Myth.”
And what is next?
On May 1, we will begin the next phase of Chabad E-Myth. We will have special calls and training just for new members, during the month of May, so they are brought up-to-speed with the beta group. They will of course have access to all of the documentation, discussions, conferences that are now available to the beta group, and participate in the weekly teleconference.
During Phase 2, we will continue to participate in the inspiration of E-Myth, through our weekly teleconferences with Gerber. Additionally Shluchim will have the opportunity to collaborate in areas of interest on weekly phone calls with each other, led by our Program Director.
During these calls, they will be applying E-Myth concepts to creation of Systems that will be created, tested, and implemented in our Chabad Houses. The ultimate outcome of Phase 2 will be a paradigm shift of how we view our Chabad Houses, and a series of manuals that will help you to effectively running your Chabad House.
Open enrollment for Phase Two will begin on Monday, March 1, and end on April 30. The subscription fee for Phase 2 is $200/month with a one year commitment. As an incentive, for those who enroll before March 31, we will waive the final payment of Phase Two, which would be charged in April of 2011. But you must submit your commitment and credit card information no later than March 31 for this incentive. All Phase 2 participants must enroll by April 30.

see #6. Thank you
Rabbi Manis Friedman once said that the point of E-Myth is that the Shliach delegate all secondary matters, so that his PRIMARY job – to teach Torah and Chasidus – occupy most, if not all, of his time.
The E-Myth Program is the first that has attempted to focus on this.
my opinion is what “unzera Aigeneh” Mendel Duchman and Yisroel Brod have acomplished with shluchim worldwide-
no outsider consultant has the hergesh un der gefeel to even come close to them….. sorry for the bluntess……ive tried all diffrent methods but what a CHOSID brings to the table is what makes it or breaks it….
always the friedmans…
I have a sneaky suspicion that the Rebbe would be proud if these “professional shluchim” would invest – at the very least – the same time and energy into learning a blat gemoro of a maamer chassidus.
Somehow the two don’t seem to go together?!
PS THE GEMORO/MAAMER WOULD ALSO HELP THE SHLICHUS MORE THAN E-MYTH
I have read Gerber’s book “Emyth Revisited” and was very impressed. The shluchim are very fortunate, BH.
Thank you for the wonderful things you are doing. Your mission is Divinely inspired! Much success!
