Tzirl Goldman, founder of the Friendship Circle in Crown Heights, received an award Thursday from NY State Senator Eric Adams at an event marking Women’s History Month in Brooklyn.
Awards were given to women who are making a difference in their communities, at a ceremony at Kings County Hospital Auditorium.
Goldman was awarded for her extensive work for children with disabilities in the Crown Heights community.
In 2001 she founded the Friendship Circle at the Jewish Children’s Museum in Crown Heights to provide programming and social interaction for children with special needs.
After accepting her award, Goldman spoke to the crowd of 200 about the importance of providing programs and friendship to children with special needs, and mentioned that the awards were being given on the birthday of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who always emphasized doing acts of kindness.
