Singer/songwriter Moshe Hecht and Rabbi Yossi Jacobson proved an entertaining and inspiring duo when they collaborated for an evening of music and inspiration hosted by Rabbi Yeshoshua Werde in Brooklyn Heights.
The evening opened with Hecht’s breathtaking rendition of Havdalah. Rabbi Jacobson then took to the stage with a powerful story, accompanied by music from Hecht’s five-piece band. When Hecht and Jacobson told a story together, their comedic back-and-forth drew laughter from the audience. In addition to stories, they sang niggunim, their combined voices offering a unique take on traditional Chassidic tunes.
In addition to the stories and niggunim, Hecht performed select songs from his upcoming debut album, raising the audience to their feet in dance. This month, Hecht is heading back to Seattle to finish recording his album with Grammy-nominated, Emmy-winning producer Steve Allen.
