We all know how crazy Pesach preparations can be, especially for Chabad shluchim preparing for dozens of guests.
Now imagine being a Chabad shliach preparing for over 50 guests with three feet of water flooding your basement, including almost all your Pesach food.
Unfortunately, this nightmare scenario struck Rabbi Moshe and Geni Bleich of Wellesley, MA this week.
The rabbi’s office, three guest bedrooms, two storage rooms, and the rest of the finished basement are completely submerged under three feet of water. Unfortunately, insurance in the state of Massachusetts does not cover flood damage.
Aside from the damage to the carpets, flooring and walls, the Bleichs have lost computers, sofas, beds, siddurim, machzorim, seforim, food (including Pesach shopping), freezers, children’s clothing, tools, Shabbos and yomim tovim supplies, and much more. Baruch Hashem, over 100 pounds of matzah were saved at the last minute!
The Rebbe urged us to help the “fifth son” find his way to the seder. For almost a decade, the Bleichs have worked to help hundreds of “fifth sons” do exactly that. They’re still determined to host a seder at the Chabad House this year, but they can’t do it without our support. If you would like to help, you can donate at wellesleywestonchabad.org.
