2 year-old Mendel Simons and his 1 year-old sister Sarah Simons of Crown Heights won first place in COLlive.com’s worldwide Purim Costume Contest for being dressed as Rag Dolls.
Their identical cloth Rag Dolls costumes earned them the highest vote average in the annual contest that ended Thursday, March 4. Their prize: an iPod Nano.
A robot costume secured Leibel Notik from Montreal the second place as the online voters favorite. He will receive a $50 gift certificate at Judaica World.
2,453 people (unique I.P. addresses) voted on 154 final contestants in the contest (with our sister Hebrew website COL.org.il holding their own contest).
The runner ups were the Sudak family for their Black & White Theme, and Esti and Malki Janowski, ages 3 and 4, who were dressed as a Chosson & Kallah.

I really liked the facbook one!
I def agree that the ragdolls looked cute and a cute costume (moreover picture, it helps to have a professional looking picture), but from where i’m sitting it looks like the costume is comprised of bought items. correct me if i’m wrong. Call me and old-school thinker, but if i were judging/voting, i would be inclined to value and admire most those costumes that had thought, creativity and significant effort/time exerted in being home-made costumes. Kol hakavod to the kids who didn’t pester their parents to spend money buying them run-of-the-mill and mass-produced costumes. they deserve votes for their effort… Read more »
