During a Seudas Purim and Purim Party for the Chabad of Flatbush community at the hall of Congregation Etz Chaim, participants were excited to see their beloved Rabbi, Rabbi Zalman Liberow, making his first visit out of healthcare facilities.
At a horrific crash that took the life of his 9 year old son, Avrohom Dovid, and Mrs. Pesha Leah Azoulay, Rabbi Liberow sustained severe injuries, which kept him in the hospital for almost a month. He is currently confined to a nursing home in Brooklyn, where family and community are able to visit him, while he undergoes extensive physical therapy.
At the event, Rabbi Liberow spoke words of Chizuk to his community, tearfully saying that his son, Avrohom Dovid, and Mrs. Pesha Leah Azoulay, are definitely meritful, and we should be zoche to make a blessing upon their ‘techiyas hameisim’ speedily, in our days.
Rabbi Liberow emphasized the message of the Megillah whereby Jews affirmed the commitment they made at Matan Torah. So too now, we should affirm that which we accepted from the Rebbe on the 28th of Nissan, when we were instructed to do all that is within our power to bring the Geulah.
During his talk, Rabbi Liberow acknowledged the work of his son Levi Yitzchok, who has been fulfilling many of Rabbi Liberow’s duties during his absence.
He also announced that his assistant, Rabbi Chanoch Henach Chaskind, and his wife, will be joining him as emissaries of the Rebbe to the community, and requested the community’s assistance in this undertaking.
It is to be noted that the family is still facing a very significant hardship, as many of the expenses currently incurred are not reimbursed by insurance or any other source. The family is hoping to be able to celebrate Pesach together, and is trying to find appropriate accommodations within the community.
