Famed Chasidic singers Mordechai Ben David, his son Yeedle, and Yishai Lapidot all performed at an event benefiting ZAKA this week, at the Tel Aviv Cultural Hall.
The ZAKA rescue organization has become an integral part of the aftermath of many tragedies in Israel, including terror attacks and accidents, over the past ten years.
During the concert MBD performed wearing a ZAKA vest, and dedicated a song to the organization’s volunteers – a moving rendition of ‘Ad Mosai.’
The singer explained, “After the terror attack on the #2 bus in Jerusalem, I was sitting at the piano in tears. I was haunted by the terrible scenes and pictures, they would not leave me.
“I remembered the words of the Lubavitcher Rebbe about the coming of Moshiach, and the words of the song just flowed from me. I would like to dedicate this song to you.”
As he sang the song, scenes from the #2 bus attack were shown on the screen behind him, uncommon for such events.
At the end of the evening, each participant received a ZAKA journal, showing some of the tragic events in which ZAKA has been involved. Sadly, the centerpiece of the album is a selection of pictures of the destruction of the Chabad House in Mumbai, after which ZAKA was instrumental in evacuating the bodies of the victims.

My Midrash on Tehillim 137
The Weeping Willow!
Ad Motai: Turning Weeping into Praise!
“We hung our harps upon the willows….” Tehillim 137.
All is dependent upon praise, for it is written:
“Your life is (hanging) in the balance, (at mid-night).”
and if everything “hangs upon” willows,
willows being one of the four species, and willow is
an acronym for Sukkot, then Sukkot is dependent
upon harps (constructed out of willows) that is, praise.
