The annual Crown Heights Purim Seudah will take place this year on Sunday, February 28 – Adar 14 at the Oholei Torah ballroom.
Megila reading will begin at 4 PM and a festive full-course meal will be served at 5 PM for families and singles – free of charge.
Funded by private individuals for some 17 years, the meal will be dedicated to the late Shimshon Stock and his wife Martha, who headed the Chevra Simchas Shabbos V’Yom Tov (CSSY).
Shimshon brought the Purim spirit to everyone he met, every day, and this gathering of simcha and unity in the community is a fitting tribute to him, organizers said.
What began as a small group of 20 families joining for the Purim Seudah has blossomed into a community-wide celebration, some years hosting almost 900 people.
Many residents join the singing, dancing and a community Farbrengen after eating in their own homes.
Organizers told COLlive.com that seating will be separate, with men on one side and women on the other.
Rabbi Dovid Sholom Pape of Tzivos Hashem will be the emcee. Jewish singer Benny Friedman will be singing to live music.
