Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin has been released from solitary confinement at the Linn County Correctional Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Matzav.com reports.
The move came just minutes before the onset of Shabbos, allowing Sholom Mordechai to spend the Jewish day of rest in the more peaceful environment of his regular cell.
The decision was made by Michael J. Carr, a head official at the Linn County Correctional Center, who reviewed the case, including video footage, and determined that Rubashkin deserved to be released.
The former manager of Agriprocessors got into a physical altercation with another prisoner about the volume of the television when Rubashkin began Shacharis morning prayers.
Rubashkin is in jail, awaiting sentencing for 86 counts of bank fraud that stem from the May 2008 immigration raid at the Postville kosher meatpacking plant.
Matzav.com added: The Jewish community is thankful to Mr. Carr for his act of kindness and justice, and specifically for releasing Sholom Mordechai in time for the Jewish day of rest.
Noteworthy is the fact that the prison administration has shown a great deal of sensitivity to Sholom Mordechai’s various religious needs.

This is very good news as he is back in his own cell and this was a big thing that they reversed the decision. He has one main thing which is now he can call for many hours of the day and before he was limited to 45 minutes and at a random time that the jail permitted. He may have been better off there. When prisoners feel threatened they actually request solitary confinement. You are guaranteed a certain level of security.
I think now is the time to ask for a minyan of yidn to be allowed to daven sometimes with him. maybe a thursday so he could hear krias hatorah as well. maybe in the beggining once in a while and then more often.
