Lawyers for Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin have been advised that the sentencing phase of his trial has been moved up to March 2010, COLlive.com was told.
The legal teams of the former Agriprocessors meat plant manager are now working feverishly to present motions that will guide US District Court Chief Judge Linda Reade to be merciful in sentencing.
“They feel that testimony of his good character, by individuals who have benefited from Sholom Mordechai’s benevolence and compassion, will be helpful to his case,” says Rabbi Sholem Ber Hecht of the Committee of Pidyon Shivuyim.
Other members of the committee are Yingy Bistritsky, Lipa Brennan, Ari Chitrik, Sholom Duchman, Mendel Feller, Shea Hecht and Benjy Stock.
The Committee, Lubavitch individuals who advocate for Rubashkin, has recived in the past requests of many people from around the world who wanted to write letters.
Well, now is the time to write, they say, and it must reach the lawyers’ office within 10 days.

May I suggest that these letters will be more effectively sent to others with national legal sway rather than to the judge who seems have her own agenda and seems to have already made her decision as evidenced by recent events.

you can not compare one who has helped thousands by his kindness and generosity, and is being treated inhumanely, and another who took advantage of others. this “gezhe” excuse is absurd, immature and a poor blame. May Hashem help all.
