The Agudas Chassidei Chabad Library, adjacent to Lubavitch Headquarters in Brooklyn, is one of the world’s leading repositories of Hebraica, containing some 250,000 volumes, and is a crown jewel of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement.
The collection is a veritable treasury of Judaic manuscripts, rare volumes, historic pamphlets, archives, portraits, photographs, letters, documents, and marriage contracts, as well as sacred and rare objects of all sorts.
Now, for the very first time, a new book “Mibeis HaGenozim – Treasures From The Chabad Library,” in two languages, brings some of these treasures to the public.
Treasures contains facsimiles of letters, documents, photos, paintings, objects, rare books and manuscripts. In all the book features 154 entries, focusing on some of the important and rare items housed in the library.
Each entry is accompanied by an explanation in English, and a lengthier explanation in Hebrew.
This exquisitely designed, four-color, 564 page, coffee-table book is a treasure indeed.
Elegantly printed and encased in a handsome slipcase, Treasures is an ideal and thoughtful gift.
“The book will prove to be a Kidush Lubavitch, demonstrating the scope and depth of the Lubavitch Library. It also makes for a great gift for your supporters,” says the author and chief librarian Rabbi Berel Levin.
Many of the items featured in the book are displayed in the current exhibition at the library.
