Regarding Elchonon’s words that the book is garbage, one wonders what principle of Chabad inspires him to be so dismissive of a book that reflects hours of engagement with the whole of Chabad literature. He may disagree but to call a book “garbage” shows no respect for another human being,. Moreover, his inferring from the author’s using other sources such as Buddhism that there is a disdain for Judaism is a pathetic and narrow-minded remark. He has every right to disagree with this approach but he has no right to draw moral judgments about the author based on his own… Read more »

Sorry but this book is garbage.. I picked it up in B & N 2 months ago, he isnt looking at chabad chasidus in an open light.. he is viewing it through his kaleidoscopic lens.. his infusion of hinduism and budhism and open comparison etc.. point to the fact that he is viewing judaism as a whole with disdain..

Herbet Weiner’s 9 and a half mystics is probably the only truthful look at chabad “from the outside”

I need to use some basic political savvy to assume where he – Klatzkin… Read more »

nice
but “what wolfson is missing” at the end is really THE crux of the Rebbe’s Torah. He may be describing CHABAD chasidut but not the coming of Moshiach… at least not the last bit of it
