October 7, 2009 9:21 am

When I was a little kid (20 yrs ago – the ‘old’ SBH), there were frei kids hanging out on the corners, Eli Lipskier and a repertoire of others had their chance on stage, the band players ranged from kapote black hats to ponytails, the range of songs was across the spectrum, every Jewish singer under the sun had his chance at the mike… and the Rebbe gave his bracha. Motzei yom tov when I took my kids back, it was all as it had been. It was beautiful, I couldn’t pull my kids away and they had the whole… Read more »

Two Yidden, Yankel and Dovid, returned to Europe after visiting America in the 1930’s.
Yankel’s report: “Oy Vey! the Treifa America! all I saw was Goyeshe Theaters and Shmutz.
Dovid’s report: What a Nachas! I saw many Shuls, a Yeshiva, Mikva’os and attended many shiurei torah!

Flags
October 7, 2009 7:54 am

I liked the blue flags better. I liked when niggunim were played in the old days. to #31- I’m a nerd and proud of it! Why do we need any flags anyway?//

with S I M C H A !!!!!!!
Focus on the positive. There is work to do with many frei yiddin, and all you “warriors” want to do is fight amongst yourselves. What comes from the heart….!!!
Swallow your “yeshus”. Grab the frei guyss SMILE and start dancing!!
The women need to grab the girls and start dancing inside or give them a knish, a hug and a place to feel safe( I don’t really know because I’m not a MADRICHA). …All You Need is Real Rebbe Love

Moshe, I couldn’t agree with you more. And I am not even lubavitch. It has always been a favorite pastime of mine to watch on chol hamoed how chabad puts on a stunning display of dancing at simchas beis hashoeva in Crown Heights. But you’re right about the kind of scene that has been attracted to your part of town… recent years have proven so shameful that even I am embarassed for the stray teens who bum around Crown Heights “after hours” smoking, drinking.. who knows what. Of course the rebbe would not be proud.. but to cut the entire… Read more »

October 6, 2009 6:43 pm

BE QUIET ALREADY. Love it how everyone is becoming the Rebbe’s spokesperson. If you don’t like it go home. How much longer is this politics game going to continue? We are all the Rebbe’s kids and if you don’t like how others are behaving, DO YOUR OWN THING. If you keep making such a big deal out of the nut jobs, you keep giving them a reason to go on. JUST IGNORE IT AND MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE. Did you come to SBH to dance like the Rebbe wants or to be a policeman over everyone else to judge… Read more »

Where ever there is a strong kedusha, there will be a kelipa to counteract. ze leumat ze. However, the Rebbe said that the kedusha at simchas beis hashoava is so strong, it will outdo any amount of kelipa. Just make sure you are in the right places, doing the right things, and the klipa will not disturb you.

It's take a shvere matzav
October 6, 2009 3:41 pm

Looking at simchas beis hashuava at a diffrent angle there were 1000s of people wich were not nispoel what was going on by the corners and danced the way the rebbe wants Chas vesholom to say the rebbe doesn’t want it what’s going on the corners the rebbe doesn’t want but the rebbes inyonim are forever

INCREDIBLE!
October 6, 2009 3:36 pm

i got to kingston at 12:30 and stayed until it ended at 6am! i couldnt pull myself away from all the energy and incredible achdus, the yoelis were waving the moshiach flags they were singing yechi, and their wives were standing in the croud watching their husbands have a great time! last nights simchas beis hashoeva was a kiddush hashem, there are frei kids in every sect and thats not what our focus should be on when there is so much greatness going on atthe same time. i cant wait to go back again tonight.. a girl from out of… Read more »

Simchas Beis Hashoeva in BP
October 6, 2009 3:35 pm

For those saddened by the Simchas Beis Hashoeva in Crown Heights: We took our family to the Simchas Beis Hashoeva in Boro Park on 13th Avenue and 47th Street, organized by Chabad of BP (Rabbi Ginsburg) and we had a wonderful time. It was really beautiful to see. Done in a manner that resembles what a Simchas Beis Hashoeva should be and used to be here in CH. There will be one tonight as well (Tue) starting at 7:30 pm, with a program for kids at 9.30 pm. May we be zoche very soon to be reunited with our Rebbe… Read more »

October 6, 2009 1:45 pm

I observed the start and stayed for about 1 1/2 hours, and during that whole time YECHI OR ANY OTHER SONG WITH THE “M” WORD was NOT played AT ALL!!!!

????????
October 6, 2009 1:43 pm

If, as all the negetive comments about moshiachistim and yechi are really right – why would ANYONE from outside crown heights or inside for that matter, come to see “what’s going on”?
Obviously, yechi & moshiachistim are not a “turn-off” as you think! Also, I think if you would ask the Rebbe he would suggest THREE separate SBH’s
1.-For those who want a live Rebbe.
2.-For those who want a dead Rebbe.
3.-For those who don’t know what they want.

I, personally, want a live Rebbe.

The rebbe’s brocho given to Simchas Beis Hashoeva under Shemtov was thrown away when they decided to tell the Rebbe to get lost together with Shemtov.

October 6, 2009 12:51 pm

YOU ARE DEFINATELY LOOKING FOR SOMETHING BAD TO SAY BECAUSE THE MISHICHISTS ARE THE ONES WITH MOST CHAYUS AND THEY ARE GOING TO BRING MOSHIACH. NOT YOUR NEGATIVE COMMENTS!

As I was watching the wonderful entertainment, I also saw the other side of the coin…many boys and men on the women’s side hanging out with girls, and young bochurim, mostly from other neighborhoods, walking back and forth (barely) in the middle aisle as they were so drunk they could barely stand up. They even had mashka bottles out in the open while doing so. I know there were a lot of police and shmira there, but they were ALL just staying at their posts when they should have been circulating and stoping this. These kids don’t even need to… Read more »

Saddened and Disappointed
October 6, 2009 12:41 pm

My family and I flew in from California to spend Sukkos in the NY area. I was looking forward to show my young sons the Simchas Beis Hashoeva I used to know when I was a bochur, only to find the entire ceremony has been hijacked by a bunch of yechinicks – with their yellow flags and lunatic ranting. I don’t mind that much if street vendors sold stuff for an extra buck or two, but to see the what once was a beautiful spectacle overun by meshugoyim and their agenda is juat plain sad!

I DO NOT AGREE!!!!!!
not at all…

Yechi isn’t embarrassing. What’s wrong? Just because you don’t say yechi, doesn’t mean it’s wrong or that you should be against it. If you don’t say yechi, just keep quiet. Besides, the chasidishe people loved it last night!

To #10
October 6, 2009 11:51 am

I COULD NOT AGREE MORE!

Im pashut embarrassed! Im sure the Rebbe would have loved for it to stop! I think they should just rent out a hall … I know it’ll never happen but still, no tables so there will be extra room to dance with a mechitza seperating the sections! and then it is less likely that there crazy light-ups and sprays will be sold (and bought) .

Also, it’s really interesting how they managed to fit Yechi into every single song….

AD MOSAI?!?!!?!?!?
Rebbe we need you! Moshiach now!

thanks a-ton

COL LIVE ROCKS, this is the best and most updated website lubavtich has and will ever see. some years other people tried to air the SBH live, never was it as clear and sharp as COL-LIVE has done it this year.
Thanks A LOT and keep up the expert news service, so lubavtich will truly see who is intrested in keeping chabad informed on the news. ( and not politics)

Double Chilul Hashem
October 6, 2009 12:26 am

It is 1:17 am and I just returned home from Kingston Avenue. It’s a double chilul Hashem. Let me describe what I saw. 1. We have attracted hundreds of not frum teens, girls smoking and hanging out with their boy friends. 2. The oblivious band is playing one Yechi and Shlita song after the other, the yellow flags are competing with each other. A handful of good-meaning parents are dancing with their young children (while their older children are roaming the dark alleys…). I don’t know which chilul Hashem is bigger, 1 or 2. Groups of chasidishe people with streimels,… Read more »
