Brooklyn, NY – Joining the ranks of other stalwart supporters like former State Comptroller H. Carl McCall, Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) has indicated that he intends to support Governor David Paterson should the Governor decide to seek re-election in 2010.
“Governor Paterson has long been a friend to me and to the community I represent. More than that, I truly believe that David is capable of leading New York State in the right direction,” said Hikind. “There is no question that he has had a difficult first year, but all transitions are hard. I believe the Governor is entitled to the benefit of the doubt, and more importantly, he is due respect from his colleagues.”
Hikind continued, “The Governor has worked under extremely trying circumstances, and I am confident he will continue to work to resolve this state’s most challenging issues. I look forward to supporting his candidacy if he chooses to run for re-election in 2010.”
Earlier this week, Governor Paterson was told that the Obama Administration wanted him out of the election, at a dinner with Mayoral candidate Bill Thompson and Democratic State Senator John Sampson, NBC reported.
While Paterson had already heard rumblings from the Obama team, the conversation changed on Friday night when it became clear the message was coming from White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.
I agree that the president shouldn’t be mixing in to internal New York politics, but to Assemblyman Hikind, really? Paterson? Anyone would be better than Paterson. Paterson over Rudy? I really don’t get Hikind, as a former member of the JDL you’d think he wouldn’t be such a sell out and be supporting corrupt politicians like Shelly Silver and David Paterson.
now is the time to reassess your strategy…. paterson can’t win not now or 2010 move on and choose better allies to support..
loser
even obama think he is gonna lose why would we support a loser
