In “The Rebbe’s Army – Inside the World of Chabad-Lubavitch,” award-winning journalist Sue Fishkoff gave the world a first behind-the-scenes look at the Chabad Shlichus network and the extraordinary lengths to which the Chassidim take their mission of outreach.
And now it available in German too.
With almost 30 Shluchim families operating in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, the need for more information about Chabad in the German language is growing.
Berlin based Miriam Magall, an author who translated over 250 books into German, among them Israel’s former Chief Rabbi Israel Meir Lau‘s book about Judaism, has accepted the task.
And just in time for Yud Tes Kislev, the Rosh Hashana of Chassidism, the new ‘Dad Heer Des Rebben’ has been readied for print and will be shipped next week.
The book’s cover design, layout and typography were done by Kay Bachmann of Leipzig, who won the German prize for the best designed book in 2007.
Its cover features (on the back) a known photo of Rabbi Yosef Greenberg, the Shliach in Anchorage, helping a skier, and (on the front) helping someone put on Tefillin.
The book is published by Books&Bagels in Zurich, the largest Jewish bookshop in the German speaking countries, and is available on booksnbagels.com.
