Republican Senator Scott Brown was in his home state of Massachusetts over the weekend on a tight fundraising schedule, but took the time to visit a friend.
COLlive has learned that Brown spent 30 minutes Sunday at Wellesley Weston Chabad House to catch up with his pal Rabbi Moshe Bleich.
Asked what they spoke about, Bleich told us: “He gave predictions for the upcoming local and national elections.”
The Senator, a die-hard Red Sox fan, make it a point to tease the Chabad Shliach about his Yankee yarmulke.
“He always wears a Wellesley Weston Chabad Yarmulke which I gave him several years ago,” Bleich told us.
“He told me yesterday that he wore it for a week straight on his recent trip to Israel, and also a Reform temple in DC 2 weeks ago.
“So yesterday he asks me to please get him a Red Sox yarmulke saying that he would wear it all the time, not only at the Jewish events!”
And what was Rabbi Bleich’s reply?
“I told him no, not so much because I hate the Red Sox, but because I want him to keep on wearing the Wellesley Chabad one!”
Brown, who is a regular at Chabad Wellesley Weston events and even played on its softball team, took it in stride.
Before he left, the Senator left a few Washington “souvenirs” to be raffled off for the benefit of the Chabad House.

While it may not be a sin for a goy to wear a yarmulkah… It’s no Mitzvah either… A lot of people THINK that it’s important for a goy to wear a yarmulkah in the presence of Jews or a rabbi or (most definitely) in a shul… So here’s a story for you… you can see a video of it… David Dinkins visited the Rebbe MHM to receive a dollar, wearing a yarmulkah. As he was standing in front of the Rebbe MHM, his yarmulkah fell off. Immediately some of the Rebbe’s “mesharsim” started scrambling to pick it up. The… Read more »

This article (and every other story, event, occurrence) is what ever you want it to be. Everything that happens, is what it is (aka divine providence) and ideally should be left at such. However, if you insist on placing a label on this article, may I recommend that you adopt the outlook of Rabbi Eliezer (Avos 2:9) and get in to a habit of Eyin Tova – a positive prospective. I can assure you that adopting a positive prospective will add joy and peace to you and to those with whom you interact Think Positive – Vet Zayn Gut!!! L’chaim… Read more »

Funny, when Gabe Kapler (a Jew) played for the red sox, Moishe used to show off Gabe’s autograph on the inside of his yarmulke…I always thought he was a red sox fan, but now I know better.
