The 2nd highest Menorah in Brooklyn (only a foot shorter than the famous Prospect Park Menorah) was raised this Wednesday in the center of Brighton Beach.
Located in the Chase Bank parking lot next to new luxury housing complex Oceana and near the Millennium Theater, the Menorah was erected by the Russian organization F.R.E.E. of Brighton Beach directed by Rabbi Hirsh Okunov.
This Menorah was designed, built and mounted by Architect and F.R.E.E. member – Yankel Friedman .
On Chanukah thousands of Russian Jews will gather together for music, dancing and hot latkes to celebrate the lighting of the giant Menorah.

The okonovs are doing nice work on behalf of their organization FREE
FREE is an organization for russian immigrants, not Shluchim.
(The Winners are the official Shluchim of Brighton and Manhattan beach)
west brighton is cony island
no such thing west brighton
I think it.s more then 20 Ft
how high is it? it really looks high like 15 feet tall
This Menorah has been up for over 10 years. They were just doing some repairs. Also – The neighborhood where Winners are Shluchim is actually called West Brighton, though some do refer to it as Brighton Beach. Locals also refer to it as “Seabreeze” after the street. F.R.E.E. is in Brighton Beach “central”. Hope that clarifies the comments above.
Great shots!
Thanks for posting.
