Thousands take part in Sukkot in Luna Park
Sukkot in Luna Park has firmly established itself as one of Sydney’s premier Jewish family events.
With discounted ride tickets, kosher food by L’amour Catering and the new expanded 64 square metre sukkah, Sukkot in Luna Park was something special this year. The clear blue sky and blazing sun created an environment where people could enjoy a fun day out with their families, eat kosher food in a Sukkah and even shake the Lulav with one of the Yeshiva’s student rabbis.
At about 3 pm there was a grand raffle for an Apple iPad that was won by Yehudis Fuchs.
The purpose of this event is to bring the community together to celebrate Sukkot in an informal setting, just as our ancestors rejoiced in ancient days in and around the Temple in Jerusalem.
The crowds came from all over the Sydney Metropolitan Area, some even venturing from as far afield as the Blue Mountains.
“We are very happy to be able to provide such events that increase in Jewish awareness and practice,” said Rabbi Elimelech Levy of Chabad Youth NSW, organiser of the event. “There is nothing that brings the community together more than celebration.”
Chabad Youth NSW is an Initiative of the Yeshiva Centre – Chabad NSW HQ.
