U.S. Congresswoman Yvette Clarke (D-NY 11) and NYC Comptroller John Liu joined a recent JCRC/UJA mission trip to Israel.
After meeting with IDF Col. (Res.) Danny Tirza, Chief Architect for the Security Fence, Congresswoman Clarke paid a visit to Kfar Chabad, a Chabad-Lubavitch village in central Israel near the Lod airport.
Clarke was escorted by her Community Liaison, Eli Slavin of Crown Heights, where they were greeted by his brother Rabbi Zev Slavin, Director of Ohr Simcha, Rabbis Yitzchok Amar, Yonathan Chamelitzky, Yossi Klein and the Brami family.
Clarke was honored with the ribbon cutting to a new family room in the dormitory of Ohr Simcha, made possible by the contribution of Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein.
The group of children who will be residing in the apartment, along with the Brami family, sang for the group and thanked the Congresswoman for her caring.
Congresswoman Clarke suprised her hosts when she asked the children: “Who knows the significance of 770?” To which many boys shouted “Bais Chayeinu.”
Clarke was very touched by the children and staff of this very worthy institution and concluded by wishing all L’shono Tova Umetuka.
The guests made a visit to the 770 building in Kfar Chabad as well.
Since Rabbi Slavin davend with us twice this summer, we can add our greetings.

My friend and I had a serious issue with Veterans Administration. Our Rabbi send us to Rabbi Eli Slavin (from Congresswoman Clarke’s office) for advice. Eli’s professionalism and caring is a gift to our community.
Also, let’s not forget his charm and sense oh humor.
