Well well. Look at sinas chinom rearing its ugly head. When you are finished slandering others in your jealosy perhaps consider taking an open minded look at those two schools you mentioned. May your own children never need the care and compassion of the dedicated staff at JETS (Jewish Educational Trade School) which provides high school boys with a second chance & keeps them off the streets. As for Netaneli, may I bless you as well not to have to appreciate the the services of a school which provides Jewish education for those who financialy cannot pay 15k per child… Read more »

single gender schools are not a problem.
September 5, 2010 12:31 pm

people were in touch with Kohls before they slaved for this campaign. Single Gender schools are not a problem as long as they have a sister school in the same area to accomodate applicants in the area. Computer generated votes are a problem in every way shape and form as stated in the official guidlines. Schools who engaged in this practice just may fall below 20 once those 1,000s of are disqualified. 10s of 1000s is probably more accurate. If they don’t try to fight Kohls they could avoid the chilul hashem we all fear.

“ashamed to be a Lubavitcher”

Are you a Lubavitcher? Chassidim give their fellow yidden benefit of the doubt…
Are you a lawyer for Kohls? Are you privy to information we are not? Are you certain 9 of the 11 schools knowingly broke rules?
You are ashamed to be a Lubavitcher, well I agree, if that’s what a Lubavitcher nowadays is…

Keep the negativity in your mind and maybe it’ll turn into positivity over time…

Lubavitch does not need fraud
September 5, 2010 11:35 am

If a yeshiva has to resort to fraud to continue, then something is seriously wrong. If this turns out to be fraud, I truly fear for Lubavitch. The soinim will be all over us, and this time they will have real information instead of just joining the bandwagon of losers who strike out at anyone that succeeds against the odds as Chabad often does.

Some of you can never see the forest for the trees/and besides which ever hear the words “pious fools”? This is a chance to keep kids and schools running and you have a problem?Girls worked hard and do not have FC themselves but got people to vote-all over.Think and learn how to look at the big picture!Think out of the box too.H’ gave everyone a brain-it would b nice if people actually used it.

Please think positively
September 5, 2010 10:58 am

It was hard to get everyone in the ch community to vote. They only joined when it looked like schools were winning. Then you guys are the first to turn on all the winning schools. Please think positively and daven that all the schools will be able to receive the money. Lubavitch needs the money, remember? What are you doing to ensure that Yeshivas keep running???

September 5, 2010 10:01 am

that all the votes are legitimate. What a chilul Hashem it would be if the votes are fraudulent. And what a waste of the time and effort of the ones who put so much work into getting REAL votes–if we end up being disqualified because of some cheating. I REALLY HOPE none of that was going on.

Great to see the smiling faces of the Gainseville gang at the top of this page!!!

Not an issue
September 5, 2010 9:52 am

The gender discrimination thing is not an issue. Even the board of ed money that our schools regularly get is contingent upon no gender discrimination, according to the fine print. If a girl were t apply to ULY, they would accept her in their “sister school” Beth Rivkah, since the two are associated. But fake votes…..that might be an issue.

WE DID IT!!!
September 5, 2010 9:45 am

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone including the Gainsville volunteers-We worked till minutes before Shabbos to get this done!! Persistance and hard work really does pay off!!…I really hope all the Jewish schools get every penny they worked so hard for.I don’t see any reason not to use any type of technology for a good reason, just because that same technology has the potential to be used in a negetive way..Everyone I approached already had a fb account,i didn’t make anyone open an account against their will! Why can’t everyone just be happy with this amazing achievment?!

Breaking the Rules
September 5, 2010 9:18 am

Not bad. Of the 11 schools that made it, 2 if that conform to Kohl’s rules. And that assumes those schools had enough legit votes to really be in the running.

I am ashamed to be a Lubavitcher today. Didn’t recent events teach us that breaking the rules does NOT pay?

its not official
September 5, 2010 9:03 am

*The top 20 vote-getting schools and each of their proposed programs are currently being verified to ensure compliance with official contest rules, terms and conditions. Once verified, official winners will be announced.

MAJOR chilul Chabad
September 5, 2010 7:43 am

Unfortunately, if the rules really are k-12 and no gender discrimination, we will see a huge backlash against Chabad in general for all the voting shenanigans.

While Kohl’s should have checked the schools for that first, we are really going to come off looking very bad if, as I suspect, more than half of our schools are disqualified.

A big thenk you

Congratulations oholei torah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 5, 2010 2:28 am

For being a true chasidie shcool. i’m so proud to be an ot mother! i aplaud for NOT compromising on internet usage for money. they could have done the same thing, but they dont allow internet and fb, and they didnt “break rules” b/c the school needs the money. i voted and i have nothing against this thing, but at the same time i c that other local school forgot their rules, and promoted fb usage. now go tell all these families that fb is forbidden. what kind of chinuch r they selling?

The rules
September 5, 2010 2:18 am

My reading of the rules tell me that several Chabad schools will be disqualified. Has to serve K-12, not gender discriminate. And unfortunately, there will be a lots possibly thousands, of illegitimate votes. I hope I’m wrong, but we should wait and see before we celebrate.

Account verification
September 5, 2010 2:16 am

Since many people started accounts just to vote, maybe they should start using it to join other jewish pages and causes. That will have a double benefit.
a) Kohls will realize that not only are these accounts backed by real people but they are also active users.
b) the users will gain a lot by making use of the vast amount of torah and chassidus and tzedakah projects that are available on fb.

Job well done CHAIM SIMON you woked so hard and it paid off .

seems a bit hypocritical
September 5, 2010 12:33 am

We tell our kids especially to stay off of Facebook and other social networks. Some of the schools that “won” this contest, a couple of years ago expelled teenagers for being on it. And now they are advocating everyone to go vote on these very same sites. I know the yeshiva and schools are hard up for money. But they should stick to their principles no matter what the costs. I applaud my kids yeshiva L.E.C of south Florida sticking to this very principle. Perhaps we shouldn’t be so quick to applaud ourselves so much!

Maybe Kohls didn’t say anything of the sort, but it’s true that they are having a team of lawyers fine-combing the winners for the next two weeks, to find fake or multiple facebook pages, and they will deduct those votes. Whether or not the fake votes come from Chabad schools is up to them to decide. (And Chabad doesn’t usually have quotation marks around it…)

September 4, 2010 11:40 pm

Verifying means making sure votes are valid (like if a lot of votes show IP addresses from out of the US they may disqualify them), making sure the schools non-profit status is in proper order, making sure there is an actual school behind the name, and not just an organization with a defunct Talmud Torah program, and of course making sure there was no manipulation of the voting, such as paying people to vote (it is against their official rules). Don’t assume anyone did anything illegal or wrong. They are also going to be carefully examinng each school’s plan, and… Read more »

Kohls told a non jewish school that was out of the top 20 the entire friday that they had nothing to worry about because they were planning on disqualifying some schools and would push them in.
At least one of the schools had entire pages of fake accounts voting for them so let’s wait for the official announcement.
