Detroit Bochurim Study Hard

A learning campaign in memory of Nosson Deitsch OBM came to an impressive conclusion this week in the Mesivta of Yeshivas Menachem Mendel Lubavitch in Oak Park, Michigan.

A total of 717 pages of Gemara of Maseches Bova Kama were learned by heart by bochurim of the Mesivta.

The Siyum and awards ceremony on Sunday was addressed by guest speaker Rabbi Yosef Itkin, a Mashpia from Pittsburgh, who remained to lead a Farbrengen late into the night.

Tzvi Alperowitz, a student of the Detroit Mesivta, was honored with conducting the siyum and reviewed a hadran from the Rebbe.

Alperowitz and Yehoshua Cohen both finished the entire tractate at a total of 118 pages each.

Rabbi Bentzion Stein, a member of the hanhala, presented a letter of the Rebbe that he received for bochurim learning Gemara baal peh in 5750.

Head Shliach of Michigan Rabbi Berel Shemtov also spoke to the bochurim, as well as the Rosh Mesivta Rabbi Leima Wilhelm and Director Rabbi Levi Kaplan, all emphasizing that at the end of a term, the focus should be on taking the strengths of the past year for improving, growing and achieving greater goals.

Over 200 seforim were given out at the event, including a set of Igros Kodesh, a number of sets of Tzemach Tzedeks, and many other sets of seforim. Each bochur who took part in the Mivtza Torah received a kuntres Eitz Chaim.

The Mivtza and the event, in addition to the many other programs throughout the year, were arranged by the devoted and caring Talmidim Shluchim of the Mesivta who spent hours testing the boys, fund raising, and arranging a successful program.
